Replaced the torn cone on an Alpine Type R. I didn't go with a full rebuild as the rest of the suspension was in great condition. This cone went on fairly smoothly. On my particular sub the cone was a little too tall and had a small gap around the voice coil. Neither of these were a problem. The gap around the voice coil was insignificant as it was really small and the space between the frame and surround was small as well. I cut off the old rubber surround's flat adhesion surface and used it as a shim between the frame and new surround to close the gap. Sub works great now and the sub seems louder. Either because it has been a while without the sub or because the cone is a much stronger material. Either way it works good and managed to fit on the alpine type r which has a weird cone size (I think).

"I have successfully rebuilt my 2 kicker L7's. I just wanted to take a minute and thank you guys for the videos. Without them it would have been a waste of time and my subs would have been paperweights, instead they are pounding better than when they were new!!
Thanks again and have a happy new year!!"
